AMAZING!!! New Style Thickness Drum Sander – DIY Sander Bar Roller Conveyor.
Very interesting project. A few observations though. Firstly the dust accumulation in the roller tray will cause problems with softwood sap clogging them up. Secondly the whole assembly I’m sure is great as a sander but won’t have the accuracy of a thicknesser where the saddle moves up towards the cutters on fine adjustment. Next there is a great chance that moving the wood by hand could create sanding troughs if the movement of wood isnt maintained. On the plus side apart from the time it takes to build its cheaper by far in parts than purchasing a thicknesser and its certainly a very useful addition to your workshop if you don’t have a table top planer either. Otherwise well done !
